Specially selected by Clearspring's tea master, Nagata-san, to commemorate company's 30th anniversary. Okumidori, meaning ‘deepest green’, is a superior, artisanal Matcha from Wazuka, in Uji, Kyoto, a place steeped in eight centuries of matcha history.

Of all the tea fields in Japan, fewer than 5% are dedicated to growing Okumidori Matcha, which makes it so valuable. Stone-ground using the freshest and youngest tea leaves from the year’s first harvest, it has a naturally smoother taste, whilst delivering a rich umami flavour.

Luxuriously smooth and rich, this Limited Edition matcha has just been launched early September this year and available in New Zealand now.

Join us in celebrating 30 years of Clearspring with this Limited Edition Okumidori Matcha.

  • Growing conditions, time of harvest and processing techniques have a direct effect on the grade and final flavour of matcha.

Ceremonial grade matcha uses the finest, smallest shade grown leaves from the very tip of the tea bush - giving it a very vibrant green colour and a slightly sweet, smooth flavour.

Premium grade matcha is ideal for both drinking and home baking, can add unique flavour and incredible colour to food and drink recipes.

Ceremonial and premium grades of matcha are ground in stone mortars for many hours. This creates a unique light smoothness that is perfect for drinking.

Okumidori matcha comes from rare variety and translated from Japanese means "deepest green". It is distinquished for its higher fragrancy and delicately balanced sweeter taste.
